Fireclay Chat

Deleting your chat

How to have a conversation you had with a business erased — on their website, or on Messenger, Instagram or WhatsApp.

The quickest way

Ask the business you were chatting with. They hold the conversation, they can see it on their own screen, and they can delete it there in one press. It is gone from our systems when they do — not hidden, not archived.

If you would rather ask us

Write to privacy@fireclaycorp.com and tell us:

  1. the business you were chatting with;
  2. where the chat happened — their website, Messenger, Instagram or WhatsApp;
  3. roughly when, and the name or number you used, so we can find the right conversation.

We will pass the request to that business and see that it is carried out. We will write back to tell you when it is done. We aim to do this within thirty days, and usually far sooner.

What gets deleted. The whole conversation: what you wrote, what the assistant or the staff wrote back, any photo you sent, and any contact details you gave inside the chat. What we cannot delete is anything the business separately wrote down elsewhere — a booking in their diary, an order in their till — because that is their own record and not part of the chat.

Chats on Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp

Deleting the conversation here removes our copy. The thread also exists in the Meta app you used it in, on Meta's own servers, under their privacy policy — deleting it there is done in that app, and is separate from this.

It may already be gone

Every business chooses how long its conversations are kept, and a nightly job deletes everything past that window. Some keep chats for a day. If yours is older than their setting, there is nothing left to delete, and we will tell you so.

Stopping the chat instead

If you would rather the assistant simply stopped replying, type stop in the conversation. It will confirm once and then say nothing further. Writing again at any time starts a new conversation.
